Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community located in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. This West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine until the west. Many times, it is credited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet, 1 inch." After I became too big for my male companions, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. As for Bruce, it was her drama teacher who nudged her into this path. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in school's annual production. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the lead in Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the Season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
